Collection
Boardroom Labs is a design consultancy and venture studio. We build new products, services, and companies independently or with clients and invest in startups we believe in.
That means we collect information related to these activities. Our collection of information is purpose driven. We collect information through your use of our website, when it’s freely provided, or when conducting research as it relates to our business activities.
We only collect personal information when it’s strictly necessary. After all, the best way to keep information safe is to not collect it. What we do collect, we anonymize as much as possible. While using our website, we may collect basic usage information, including your time on the site and what pages you visit. You may also volunteer your email or other personal information through our Venture Assessment, newsletter, or contact form.
We also may do in-person events where we collect photos. We retain the right to use and publish these photos for marketing purposes but you can request a photo be taken down or removed and we will honour that.
Use
We only use your information for specific purposes. Generally this means website optimization, business development, and for venture projects. We may use your usage information to improve the site. For instance, if we notice a pattern of certain pages leading to visitors bouncing.
If you input your personal information into a form, we may begin sending you emails or follow up to schedule a call. We only do so with your explicit consent (e.g. you put your email into the sign up for newsletter form or fill out the Venture Assessment). We respect you and our intent is neither to bother you or waste your time.
We may sometimes publish reports that contain information we’ve collected. It will be anonymized and aggregated before being published. We may also reach out to you with research questions pertaining to our projects. You may opt out of this at any time.
Storage, Retention, and Disposal
Your information is precious and it belongs to you. We take our stewardship of it very seriously. We use encryption on tools and limit access to your data to only team members who strictly require it. If they no longer require it, we remove access. If your data is in a physical form, we keep it locked up when not in use and dispose of it when no longer needed.
Our staff are trained on privacy and many are University trained researchers or have experience in Community-Based Research, both of which maintain high standards of rigour. We maintain vigilance when contracting outside professionals and hold them to the same standard as our internal team.
We have no set date for when we dispose of your date. It can be determined by the type of tool we use. For instance, Google Analytics may keep website data forever.
Your Rights
You may request a record of what data of yours we have at anytime we will do our best to share that with you in a reasonable amount of time. You also have the right to request your data be deleted anytime and we will honour that in a reasonable amount of time.
We rely on trust for what we do. To build, launch, and scale new ventures takes a community and we want to be fair and supportive of that community in every way possible.
